Project Biogas

Aratis is involved with an owner/operator that develops and operates innovative biotechnology that converts industrial waste gases – such as CO, CO₂ and syngas – into valuable chemicals, sustainable fuels and other products via gas fermentation with micro-organisms.

For a project in Scandinavia, our client is building a CCU (Carbon Capture & Utilisation) installation in which the carbon-rich gases supplied are biologically converted into ethanol via gas fermentation.

The Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) has now been completed.

In a second phase, research will be conducted into whether the installation can be expanded with Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) in order to capture, liquefy and store the residual CO₂ — which is not converted by fermentation.
